Run to benefit The Herren Project
Organized by Liysa Mendels
This is not a race. This is a statement.
We conquer this island together, and no one runs alone.
Run the perimeter of Manhattan Island (or as much as you can), raise money for a good cause and celebrate what can be accomplished when communities join forces.
Entry fees benefit The Herren Project, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness and support for people affected by addiction and recovery, as well as people affected by the underlying mental health issues of addiction. Sponsored by Saucony, Jackrabbit, Hüma Chia Energy Gel, Strava,Spring Moves and Finish Line Physical Therapy.

Only 2 and 4 person teams are allowed and you must alternate runners at each leg. What are the categories? Open (anything goes), Female, Male, and Co-Ed (equal # of men and women) in both the four-person and two-person relay. That’s a total of eight winning teams!
Electronically timed, but there’s a twist. In a traditional Ekiden, the runners wear a sash that is passed from runner to runner. After you cross the timing mat, you must hand the sash to the next runner.

Party With Purpose (PWP) is a 100% volunteer based, 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded on the concept of producing great events to raise money for charities and bring the community together in the process.
Following the attacks on 9-11, Scott Delea was inspired to make a difference in his own local community. Hoboken is known for its “work hard, play hard” lifestyle. But with a little organization we could “give hard” too! Beginning with the first event in December 2002, PWP was born to meet the needs of both local charities as well as a community looking to get involved.
Special thanks to November Project NYC for putting me onto this race.
