David King is an impressive performer and collaborator. He is an exceptional ensemble man, an excellent frontman, an estimable endorseman, and most importantly, an expert S’moresman. David, I am a huge fan of you and your unequivocal generosity. As a creative, a teacher, and friend, you live up to the extraordinary worth your name implies.

THE THING WebseriesThePlayIs.com
from writer & director, MARC PALMIEIRI
(Premiered as part of New Filmmakers NY’s Fall Mini-Festival in October 2012)

This darkly comic series chronicles the agonized misadventures of a recently reunited theatre troupe in New York City. Marc (Marc Palmieri) is a depressed playwright. He has worked at his father’s (Jeremy Johnson) struggling insurance office for 17 years while failing to make it in the theatre. The business is on the brink of collapse, and can only be saved by the successful recruitment of star salesman B.D. Reilly (Curzon Dobell). By a sequence of happy accidents, Marc finds himself directing a play. He reunites an old group of friends who haven’t seen each other, or done a play, in years. George, (George Demas) a suicidal adjunct lecturer in the Humanities, Jack (Joe Fuer), a suburban family man suppressing his wild side and Spencer (Spencer Aste), a professional stage manager answer Marc’s call and agree to attempt to bring back the old days one last time. Marc struggles against the odds to bring the play to its feet – and perhaps at last claim a place for himself in New York theatre, rescue his father’s career, and even renew the great (and woeful) romance of his life with Lydia (Lynn Mancinelli).

THE INDEPENDENT FILM SCHOOL Acting WorkshopIFS

For actors at all levels of experience

The Class:
Actors often carry the obligation to create a mood or play a specific type. In this class, working and aspiring actors will receive the tools and encouragement that they need to break free from these old traps and discover their unique and indispensable qualities as an individual. The workshop will be tailored to each actor’s goals and may include monologues, cold reads, improvisations and scene-work, as needed. Participants will pick up specific and proven techniques to help their performances become alive, powerful, natural and nuanced. Actors at all levels of experience are welcome.

THE CLASSICAL THEATRE OF HARLEM’S Playwright’s Playground
Guest Narrator

Classical Theatre of Harlem’s (CTH) Playwright’s Playground is a cold-reading series designed to promote the work of emerging playwrights whose works are persistently under-represented on American stages. The Playwright’s Playground is especially interested in works by artists of color, women and other underrepresented artists such as immigrants, and ethnic and religious minorities. The Playwright’s Playground seeks to provide a nurturing environment for playwrights to hear works in early development through cold readings with professional actors, while giving actors the opportunity to become familiar with new work and emerging playwrights.
